It's Ok to Not Be Ok

Updated: Aug 15

You know what’s more frustrating than not feeling 100%?

Not understanding why you’re not feeling 100%.

Because like this Rejooovism proclaims, it’s ok to not be ok — but what’s not ok is staying confused about what’s pulling you out of alignment. Not knowing the “why” keeps you stuck.

Black folks in America are taught — directly and indirectly — that our skin makes us too strong, too resilient, too powerful to fall short. That our emotions shouldn’t slow us down or get in the way of what needs to be done.

But those stereotypes have cost us.

They’ve kept us from exploring what our emotions are trying to teach us.

They’ve kept us from embracing our feelings as information.

They’ve kept us from reclaiming the power that was stripped from the generations before us.

And layered on top of that, we’ve been pushed into an individualistic society that tells us to carry everything alone — no help, no care, no community. That’s what makes “being ok with not being ok” feel so damn hard.

So, here’s how you can use the Rejooov process to truly be ok with being ok:

Be patient with yourself

This is where feeling your feelings matters most. You don’t have to immediately analyze what triggered you or rush to repair the damage. Only time can do that. Patience gives you the mental space to care for yourself while you slowly return to center.

Take time to breathe more

Intentional breathing reconnects you to your body. It calms your mind, regulates your nervous system, and reminds you of your own presence. A moment of deep breath is a moment of self‑respect — something we all deserve, even on our best days.

Be honest with yourself

Saying “I’m fine” when you’re hanging on by a thread only convinces everyone else, you’re ok. Your mind knows better. Honesty is how you identify what you actually need. Forget the symptoms — get to the root. And more often than not, the root is your mental health.

Consider shifting your perspective

Everything in this universe evolves. Your perspective should too. Through patience, breathwork, and honesty, you can learn what triggers you — and maybe even change how those triggers land in the future. It’s not easy work. Sometimes you need support to do it well.

Tap in with your community

Sometimes we’re too close to our own pain to see it clearly. Talking to someone you trust can help you understand yourself from the outside. But you have to be honest — real conversations require real truth.

Community is where we share, encourage, empower, and embrace one another. So Rejooov with me.

We know it’s ok to NOT be ok when we understand what pulled us out of alignment in the first place.

We know it’s ok to NOT be ok because our community teaches us how to manage our emotions.

We know it’s ok to NOT be ok because we encourage each other to want better — and to do better.

We know it’s ok to NOT be ok because we embrace every member of our collective.

We know it’s ok to NOT be ok because wellness empowers us.

Love & Light,

- Cina
